MJS Group has furthered it’s support of local teams and charities, we are now sponsoring Sharks Rugby League Juniors. The team is close to us as our Supervisor for South Devon and Cornwall, Ryan, is a coach of the Juniors. It is great to support young people in the sporting world and allows us to expand our corporate image in Plymouth. We are very proud to sponsor the team and wish them all the success this season.
MJS Drylining and MJS Decorating have won the contract to continue on to the next phase of Saltram Meadows for Persimmon Homes Cornwall. This is a site we have been on for many years and are delighted to remain the contractor of choice for the business and provide local labour with work on the doorstep.
This week saw the addition of a new client and site for our carpentry team. This new development is with Larkfleet Homes in Ivybridge. MJS Group have just finished a site in this South Devon town and are delighted to keep the local labour in the area. Our carpentry team will be undertaking the timber frame erection as well as the carpentry fixes. MJS Group have over 12 years of experience with Timber Framing, if your development uses Timber Frame, we are the local experts in this type of build and have a large labour pool to undertake this work.
We are also looking into the other trades on this development and hope to hear more information soon.
As part of a new sponsorship agreement, MJS Group have teamed up with Sidmouth RFC. This new partnership will allow the rugby players at Sidmouth the opportunity to try the site trades and start an apprenticeship with the company. One element of this new relationship is the support MJS Group can provide a local rugby club, especially with the new facilities. The company has been a part of the rebuilding of the changing rooms allowing the players to prepare for each game in a more professional environment. Louis Greenaway – Managing Director, commented on the new partnership. ‘It’s great to be involved with a local rugby club such as Sidmouth, the drive the players and coaching staff have really shows where they want to be going and winning leagues. It is a great opportunity for us to team up with such a great group of people and give them the chance to join our apprenticeship programme and offer something different.’

MJS Group Directors attended the fabulous Exeter Property Ball. It is an even we have support for many years and have been past main sponsors of. The director’s donated a prize for the charity auction raising over £2,500. The evening overall raised in excess of £50,000 for local charities, including the Hospice Care. It was a great event for the company to be a part of and are very much looking forward to the next one.
In business for over 40 years, the company has seen alot of changes in the industry and in our own offices. We have moved locations 4 times, added 5 extra trades, expanded into new locations and most recently had a new Managing Director in 2016. This summer sees the company reveal it’s new branding, now MJS Group. This incorporates all that the company believes in and ‘working together’ and ‘Group’ ethos. Since taking charge, Louis has added to the company in numbers of staff, vans and clients, this has been important to building on the brand and taking the company to the next level. The working together and team approach has been key to this. The business also encompasses a large number of trades including; rendering, drylining, plastering, decorating, tiling, timber frame erection, carpentry, mastic as well as our off site involvement in training and apprenticeships. Long gone are the days where we were just a plastering company, we have over 300 operatives and an office support team and management of over 20. The new logo also reflects a modern and cleaner one from old with the shortened name and bigger building blocks. Our new logo also incorporates our website to allow customers, staff and business partners to be able to see what we have won, supported and contact us more easily.
Our Decorating and tiling department have made it four in a row for NHBC Pride In The Job Awards. This time for long standing customer Barratt / David Wilson for the Harts Meadow site in Exeter. This continues to show the excellent standard of decorating and tiling we continue to provide our customers across the South West. Alan Knowles, Operations Director said of the achievement ‘This is testament to the dedication and commitment of our management team and the hard work and efforts our site operatives make each day. It is fantastic to be recognised in this way and well done to all of our customers for achieving Pride In The Job Awards‘.
The awards keep rolling in, this time for long standing tiling customers Burrington Estates. We have worked with Burrington for some time and have enjoyed a blossoming relationship providing the highest standards of Bathroom and Kitchen tiling for them. The awards were at Notre Dame in Plymouth and Trispen Meadows in Truro. This now takes our total up to 3 awards so far. Great work by all involved.
MJS Decorating helped our new client, McCarthy and Stone to a Pride in the Job award from the NHBC. These are some of the most prestigious awards in the industry and it is great to be able to be part of the team in Pinhoe that helped win this. Our first award of the season, Well done to Paul and the Decorating Team.
The group has secured a multi trade contract for long standing customers Persimmon Homes. This new site of 100 new homes in Bideford is a welcomed addition to our drylining and decorating workforce in the area. North Devon has seen huge growth in new build homes over the past few year and we have been at the forefront of it with Barratt, Bovis, Chichester and alike. Appledore Grove is the next new site for us which will provide continuous work for our labour pool.
Bideford is a historic town situated on the estuary of the River Torridge. There’s a beautiful view of the river and nearby fields along the main quay and the town itself has plenty local amenities.
