New contracts reach record high in 45 Year anniversary

2021 marks the company’s 45th year trading, we have moved from one man in a van to a multi-million pound turnover business. Despite the pandemic and extra cautious measures we had to take the business has grown over the past 12 months both financially and in terms of staff. We have added new apprentices, site staff and management to the company in the last 9 months which has given us the confidence to grow and take on more new exciting work.

We have also seen the company’s new order book grow to a new record in the 45 years we have been operating. “It’s fantastic and true recognition of the work everyone puts in to the company everyday, from the apprentices to the management team” Louis explains, “The rebrand to MJS Group has proven to be a huge success with our customers, staff and suppliers going beyond what the company did before, a new management team which has both youthfulness and experience allowing us to confidently build into the future with knowledge the core team is there for both ourselves and our customer base. It has given a fresh new lease of life the company needed and this is something we will continue to promote and expand. Not only offering drylining and painting services that we are widely known for but also carpentry, timber frame erection, floor screed, render, wall & floor tiling, mastic work and surface repairs, it is a vast list of experienced surveyors, operatives and admin staff that make this happen and I can’t thank them enough”

MJS Sponsor Two Chief Stars

For the upcoming season, starting tonight away to Harlequins, we will be sponsoring two bright stars of the Exeter Chiefs line up. We continue into our second year sponsoring Hooker Jordon Poole, a player who had a stand out year making numerous first team appearances competing against club captain (and Sidmouth RFC Coach) Jack Yeandle as well as internationals Luke Cowan-Dick and Elvis Taione.

We will also be sponsoring Scotland International scrum-half Sam Hidalgo-Clyne. This will be Sam’s first full season with the Exeter Chiefs joining the club during the pause in the season, since going on to play in both the Premiership and European winning finals. Sam is currently away on international duty in the Autumn nations cup. Best of luck to both of our players for the new season and we look forward to seeing you both soon.

New Vans Added to Fleet

Three new vans have recently been added to our fleet of Volkswagen Transporters and Caddys. We continue to grow organically, adding new staff, supervision and operatives inline with the growing forward order book the company has. We have seen record growth over the past 12 months, thanks to the hard work of everyone within the company striving to provide quality work in all of our trades across the South West.

Multi-Trade Site in North Devon

This week we have been awarded the drylining, painting and tiling in Barnstaple, North Devon. The site for Persimmon Homes, Tawcroft, situated south-west of Barnstaple town centre, Tawcroft is surrounded by beautiful Devonshire countryside, where you can enjoy being close to the wildlife of the River Taw and the Tarka Trail and the convenience of the nearby towns of Barnstaple and Bideford. The nearby town of Barnstaple is perfect for fun days out with its mix of ice skating, bowling, or even Air Extreme; an award-winning trampoline park. This continues our long standing relationship with work in the North Devon area and allows us to provide flowing work for local labour.

New Site in Dorset for Acorn Homes

Acorn Homes are starting a delightful new development in Bishop’s Caundle nr Sherborne in Dorset. The site will consist of 19 new homes in this charming little village. The village itself is nestled beautifully between the picture-perfect town of Sherborne and the ancient market town of Sturminster Newton. The quaint villages and towns surrounding our new development are bursting with character and history and are waiting to be discovered. Ranging from two-bedroom homes for the affordable market, through to a luxury spacious four bedroom thatched detached family home, the tranquil location of our intimate development is in easy reach of the A303, perfect for those wishing to commute and visit nearby towns of Sherborne, Sturminster Newton and Yeovil.

We will be undertaking the drylining, decorating and ceramic tiling packages here.

MJS Magic on Bathroom Tiles

Our plastic surgeon has worked his ‘magic’ on a bathroom tile at a home in Exeter. Mr Bishop said ‘It’s like magic, as close as I look you just can’t see the holes’. The issue came from a shower fitted at the wrong height. Without the need to remove the shower and replace the tiles we precisely and carefully filled and finished the holes not to leave a scar or surface difference on the tile. If you would like to use our ‘Magic Man’, please contact us to book in for any surface repairs; Work tops, Baths, Shower trays, Kitchen units, Brick, Cills or Window frames.

Dolly Joins Sidmouth RFC as Player/Coach

Our long standing friendship, support and sonsorship has flourished in to Premiership winning player Phil Dollman joining Sidmouth RFC as Player/Coach for the coming 2020/21 season. Having held coaching roles at Sidmouth for a number of years and finishing his career with the Chiefs at the end of the season, Phil has combined the two roles into one. MJS have been apart of the journey for 3 years and continue to build on the community support and responsibilities they undertake each year in and around the local Devon area.

Bringing Phil onto the pitch from a playing perspective is a dream for the club and players at Sidmouth RFC and it has been a project Louis, Managing Director, had visions of for some time. ‘A player and professional of Dolly’s quality will not only bring unrivaled knowledge to the senior squad but also the wider team at Sidmouth RFC. I am hugely proud to have been a part of making this happen and look forward to what already promised to be an exciting and entertaining season. I wish all the teams at SRFC the best of luck for the coming season.”

Phil leaves a true legacy at Exeter Chiefs having won numerous cups, leagues and not to mention the Premiership. We are sure he will continue to push SRFC and utilise his coaching and playing qualities to the maximum potential.
