Having operatives ‘on the books’ give us diversity and opens other doors to undertake work outside of our normal site remit. Last week we were asked to do something a little different from our norm. We were asked to enclose a small garden in Exeter with feather edge board. We bolted down the post bases to the substrate, erected each post and clad in the feather edge board. The client was extremely happy with the result ‘I think it looks great and really finished off my garden, thank you to MJS Group for the work they have done’.

Our painting and tiling divisions have been awarded a new site in Cornwall for Persimmon Homes. This extends our working area to Cornwall with the painting and also brings us back into the area with our tilers having recently finished two sites in Truro. We are continuing to add new sites, projects and workload month on month which has lead us to require more labour across our patch. This week we received some excellent feedback from a Home Owner in Yeovil…’I just want to say and for you to pass on how impressed I have been with M J Stevens who have been doing my re tiling work in our main bathroom yesterday and finished off today, turned up on time, and if they were going to be late I was told, The work that has been carried out is to a very high standard too. Very professional service and we are very pleased.’ This is testament to the hard work and caring attitude of our staff. This is fantastic to see and well done to everyone in our customer care department.

2019 is off to a flying start with 3 new contracts awarded in the first week back. A multi trade contract for Persimmon Homes South West in Exeter is a fantastic way for us to start the year. A very loyal customer rewarding us with work on our doorstep. We are delighted to be starting at Ashworth Place in Exeter. This new site give us further continuity and increased work load in and around Exeter.

With 2018 coming to a close, we are still being told good news. This time we have help Spitfire Bespoke Homes achieve Gold for the Best Development in the UK.

The WhatHouse? Awards judges commented: “Spitfire continues its inexorable rise, in terms of turnover, reputation and burgeoning brand awareness. Formed just seven years ago when it built just four homes, to pushing towards 200 homes in 2018 and a £100m-plus business. Spitfire has a great knack of identifying the right sites and then, in turn, recognising the design approach to take, to do full justice to the location and the local architecture. The housebuilder can do both traditional and contemporary, be it in a Regency spa town, or a Cotswolds village. Our scope of work in North Devon continues to grow with the latest addition being a contract with Newland Homes in Barnstaple. Barbican Walk is a select development of 3 and 4 bedroom houses, a scheme we are very excited to be working on and look forward to forging a new relationship with Newland.

Part of the MJS Group includes Kitchen fitting. This is another string to the bow of the carpentry division and we have most recently completed the stunning new kitchen at Cornwood Chase in Ivybridge for Larkfleet Homes. On offer in this exciting development is a range of two and three-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes to suit first-time buyers, growing families and families that would rather not grow any more. All of our homes come with a ten-year insurance-backed guarantee provided by LABC (LocaI Authority Building Control).

The group have been awarded a new multi trade site in Langport, Somerset. This site adds to our growing collection of work in Somerset for our Carpentry, Drylining, Painting and Tiling divisions showing the strength in depth we have here at MJS Group. A strong set up in Somerset making use of our Highbridge Depot allows us to take on work from Bristol across to Wincanton and across the levels. These 80 new plots provide our workforce with further continuation and years of work ahead.

Taylor Wimpey have awarded us with two new sites, one at Newton Abbot and the other at Exmouth. Having worked with Taylor Wimpey for a number of years it is pleasing to see they still value our work and continue to award new contracts.
